Auction of WSOP bracelet on E-Bay

What can a top poker player do with his winnings? That’s easy: spend it. Not so easy is the question of what to do with your poker bracelet when your career is in “semi-retirement”.

Tom McEvoy, who was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2013, decided to sell his bracelet from the 1983 World Series of Poker main event on the auction site eBay in mid Jan 2017.

The bracelet was part of a package that was selling for $15,000. and included besides, three poker books he authored, two PokerStars Team Pro patches from the days when he was sponsored by PokerStars, and a “one hour private poker lesson” with McEvoy himself. Though the ‘package’ is now off eBay, it is not clear if it sold or was taken off unsold.

McEvoy, who is now 72 years old, has four WSOP bracelets and winnings of USD 3 million from his years of playing poker professionally. Despite claiming to be in ‘semi-retirement’, he is still good enough to finish 644th in the WSOP and win USD 18,714.

Other champions who sold their championship bracelets include Jerry Yang in 2014, Brad Daugherty in 2010, Jamie Gold in 2013, Peter Eastgate (who sold his for charity), T.J Cloutier and the late Paul Clark.
